DNA: (1) Found in the nucleus only (2) Long molecule (3) Double stranded molecule (4) Contains the sugar, deoxyribose (5) Contains the nitrogeneous base, thymine. RNA: (1) Found in the nucleus and cytoplasm (2) Short molecule (3) Single stranded molecule (4) Contains the sugar, ribose (5) Contains the nitrogeneous base, uracil.
SIMILARITIES: (1) Both contain sugar alternating with phosphate. (2) Both contain the nitrogeneous bases adenine, guanine and cytosine. (3) Both play a role in protein synthesis.
Location Of RNA{its types} (1) Ribosomal RNA{rRNA} found in the ribosomes in the cytoplasm of the cell. (2)Messenger RNA{mRNA} which is found in the nucleus of the cell but later moves out of the nucleus and attaches to the ribosomes in the cytoplasm. (3) Transfer RNA{tRNA} found in the cytoplasm of the cell.
