SAMPLE AND SAMPLING
Sampling is a process of selecting few elements to represent the rate of population in a particular problem during a research
Sample is the items selected from the given population to represent them during a research
TYPES OF SAMPLING
There are two main types of sampling
Probability sampling
Non-probability sampling
Probability sampling. This is the type of sampling whereby each individual have equal chance of being selected to represent others problems during a research
Non-probability sampling. This is the type of sampling whereby not each individual have equal chance of being selected to represent others . for example only top ten students in examination can be selected to represent their fellows
TYPES OF PROBABILITY SAMPLING
Systematic sampling
Random sampling
Stratified sampling
TYPES OF NON-PROBABILITY SAMPLING
Multiphase Sampling
Purposive sampling
Multistage sampling
CRITERIA OF A GOOD RESEARCH
• Any good research should have the following criteria
• Research should be logical
• Should be empirical
• Should be objective and not subjective
• Should be suggestive. Suggest the measure be taken in the coming problems
PROBLEMS HINDERING DATA COLLECTION IN THE FIELD
When collecting data in the field researcher encounter various problems
Time consuming
Lack of cooperation from respondents
Inaccessible areas
Inadequate source of data
Lack of access to strictly confidential information
Language barriers
Poor transport network
Tropical diseases may affect the researcher
Climatic condition may be extremely hot or cold
